2017 Payson Tea Party Meeting Speakers (only meeting 2nd and 4th Tuesdays January -March)

Tuesday, January 10th, 2017Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is Cameron Davis of Payson Parks and Recreation who will present the town’s new promotional video “Adventure Where We Live” and discuss town marketing.  Team members Mayor Craig Swartwood, John Cline, and Donavan Christian may also attend and comment.

Tuesday, January 24th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is Jose Borrajero who coordinates the AZRRT (AZ Ready Response Team) Calls to Action on Arizona Legislative House and Senate bills.  Jose will train us in how to use the ALIS (Arizona Legislative Interactive Service) to make comments on bills in committee, and to contact legislators in groups the easy way.

Tuesday, February 14th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is Payson Fire Chief David Staub and Captain Toby Waugh will present the proposed WUI (Wildland/Urban Interface) Code that the Town Council is considering.  How is this different from a Fire-wise plan that many homeowners have implemented?

Tuesday, February 28th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is.  We will meet in the bar area to view President Trump’s address to joint session of Congress.  We will discuss issues 6-7 pm before the address starts at 7 pm.

Tuesday, March 14th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant. Speaker is Roscoe Dabney who will relay his conversion from Black Panther to Police Officer, to Pastor/Counselor and conservative Republican.

Tuesday, March 28th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant. Speaker is Don Cline who will present The Fully Informed Jury; and a pro and con discussion on the Town of Payson 1 cent sales tax increase.

Tuesday, April 4th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant. Speaker is Gila County Attorney Bradley Beauchamp, who will talk about the National Popular Vote and other Constitutional issues.

Tuesday, April 11th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is our District 4 Congressman Dr. Paul Gosar who will discuss how the US House of Representatives and Freedom Caucus is working toward implementing President Trump’s goals.

Tuesday, April 18th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is Dr. Carl Goldberg, considered a famous expert on Muslims, will do a presentation on the history and current Muslim issues.  Dr. Goldberg spoke to us in 2011 and provided a very interesting program. He will share how federal policies on Muslims have changed since 2011?

Tuesday, April 25th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is Payson Mayor Craig Swartwood who will update us on Town of Payson issues and projects.

Tuesday, May 2nd, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is Tony Tangalos who will discuss “Constitutional Counties Project” and why it is so important to have Constitution loving County Supervisors, Sheriff and County Attorneys to protect the interests of Gila County against federal intrusions.

Tuesday, May 9th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is Nathan Duell of Heritage Action for America.  He will discuss Congressional Activism and give an update on Health Care, the federal budget and regulations.

Tuesday, May 16th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Open Mic night.  Sign up for 5-10 minutes to lead/discuss a topic of your choice with the members.

Tuesday, May 23rd, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is Andrea Kadar with the “Verde Valley Coalition Against Human Trafficing” will discuss Child Sex Trafficking associated with Tourism in Rural Northern AZ.

Tuesday, May 30th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is Gila County Superintendent of Schools Roy Sandoval who will discuss the process of appointing replacement School Board members, advances in Adult Education for GED students and his work with ASU to develop teacher education programs for cohorts of students in rural communities such as ours.

Tuesday, June 6th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is past Payson Mayor Kenny Evans who spearheaded the University Campus the past ten years.  His topic:  “Epilogue – Where do we go from here?”

Tuesday, June 13th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is our AZ Legislative District 6 Representative Brenda Barton who will update us on the recently completed Legislative Session.

Tuesday, June 20th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  We will view a Prager University video on “Why the Right is Right” presented by Greg Gutfeld, co-anchor of Fox News “The Five” and host of “The Greg Gutfeld Show”.  Join us for a lively discussion on the video as well as the continued value of Tea Party groups to spread the conservative message.

Special Event: Thursday, June 22nd, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 11:30 am. Tiny’s Restaurant. 11 am to order lunch and socialize.  At 11:30 am, hear f rom now retired Homeland Security and Border Patrol employee Philip Haney.  As a Department of Homeland Security Specialist on Islam and terrorism, Philip Haney understood his job was to follow the evidence where it led.  When it led to subversive organizations protected by “Political Correctness” he didn’t back down, valuing the security of the United States above his career and personal well being.  His agency’s response was to shut down cases including one that might have prevented the San Bernardino attack.  Mr. Haney is co-author of “See something, Say Nothing” (an expose of the submission by Obama Administration to the Muslim Brotherhood), and will present why he was awarded the American Freedom Alliance award for Heroes of Conscience.  Mr. Haney is coming on his speaking tour from Washington DC and has appeared on many major news programs.

Tuesday, June 27th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant. Speaker is Frank Riggs, candidate for AZ Superintendent of Public Instruction. Riggs is an Army vet, former police officer, owner of his own successful 30-year company, former school board president, three-term U.S. Congressman, one of the “fathers” of the charter school movement, and founding CEO of an award-winning national education nonprofit.  He will speak about his candidacy and his plans for getting more dollars into the classroom, recruiting and retaining the best teachers for Arizona’s kids, and restoring the civic mission of our schools to educate and prepare young people for responsible citizenship.

Tuesday, July 11th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is our AZ LD6 State Representative Bob Thorpe.  Mr. Thorpe has been the Chairman of the Government and Higher Education Committee; and Chair of the Federalism, Private Property, and Public Policy Committee.

Tuesday, July 18th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is Gila County Superintendent of Schools who will discuss advances in Adult Education for GED students and his work with ASU to develop teacher education programs for cohorts of students in rural communities such as ours.

Tuesday, July 25th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is our AZ LD6 State Senator Sylvia Allen.  Mrs. Allen has been Chairman of the Senate Education Committee and will share the legislation passed last session.

Tuesday, August 1st, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Program is a DVD “Building a North American Union- Fact or Fiction” followed by a Power Point Presentation and discussion including “the Loop 202 as a Corridor of the Future”.

Tuesday, August 8th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is John Tate, Information Officer for Citizens for Multiple Land Use and Access who will discuss the effectiveness of the Forest Service efforts to thin the forests and Western Caucus Amendments to the Omnibus bill in favor of western states land issues.

Tuesday, August 15th, 2017: Payson Tea Party, 6:00-7:45 pm, Tiny’s Restaurant.  Speaker is Dr. Robert Branch, candidate for AZ Superintendent of Public Instruction.  He will share his vision for empowering teachers, students and parents by delivering the education, skills, and vocations needed to provide opportunities for a bright and productive future.
